Everyone is doing user tracking on their websites, and there are a lot of tools on the market that are helping to achieve this. But there is one giant that is dominating this whole market - Google Analytics. So far so good. If you make use of the tracking capabilites of Google Analytics on your page and you work within European Law, you will have a new big challenge.
Before, data get pushed directly to Google Analytics. In the future this needs to change due to a new law of the EU. The European Union decided by law that the tracking of a certain person on a website needs to be processed via first-party servers of the website owner. This implies that if a person scrolls through your website and meanwile tracking events will be fired directly to GA servers, you are not compliant with the new law of the EU.
